Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology
Choose a Fellowship Trained Mohs Surgeon to treat your skin cancer and be assured that you will be treated with the highest standards of quality and competency.
At Pinehurst Surgical’s Mohs Clinic, our staff is committed to providing the best, patient-centered care possible. Although any board certified dermatologist can perform Mohs surgery, only members of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) have undergone rigorous fellowship training during which they complete an intensive post residency year which includes participation in at least 500 Mohs cases under the supervision of an experienced Mohs surgeon. Our physicians have completed ACMS fellowship at the Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Skin Institute of South Florida.
What is Mohs Surgery
Originally developed in the 1930s, Mohs micrographic surgery is the most advanced and effective treatment for skin cancer. Using the Mohs technique, the surgeon can precisely identify and remove a tumor while leaving the surrounding healthy tissue intact and unharmed.
The Mohs procedure involves surgically removing skin cancer layer by layer and examining the tissue in an onsite laboratory under a microscope until healthy, cancer free tissue is reached. Because the ACMS surgeon is specially trained as a cancer surgeon, pathologist and reconstructive surgeon, Mohs surgery has the highest success rate of all treatments for skin cancer – up to 99%.
Our state of the art Mohs clinic is designed with the all-day patient experience in mind. With our private, spacious treatment rooms and relaxing lounge areas to rest, our goal is to create a calm and healing environment.
The Benefits of Mohs Surgery

– Maximizing the functional and cosmetic outcomes resulting from surgery
– Repairing the site of the cancer the same day the cancer is removed in most cases
– Curing Skin cancer when other methods have failed
