Maternity Care

From the very first heartbeat and ultrasound, our maternity care is personalized to meet your needs. Once your pregnancy is confirmed in our office, you will meet with our nurse educator who will answer your questions and discuss nutrition and testing. Ultrasounds will be conducted throughout the pregnancy in our nationally accredited ultrasound lob. You will also receive a copy of What to Expect When You’re Expecting. You will have the opportunity to schedule appointments with each provider to become familiar with all areas of our practice and to get to know our staff who will be assisting you throughout your pregnancy, delivery and post partum period.

Adolescent Health Care Back to Top

Gynecology Back to Top

Gynecology is the branch of medicine specializing in the disorders of the female reproductive system. The Women's Care Center provides health maintenance including annual pap smears, as well as menstrual disorders, menopause, infectious disease and maldevelopment of the reproductive organs, unbalance of the sex hormones, and issuance of contraceptive devices.

Urogynecology Back to Top

Bladder control affects women in all stages of life. Our physicians offer testing and treatment including pharmacology, biofeedback, physical therapy, pessary placement and surgery. An evaluation may include multichannel urodynamic testing which is offered as an in-house procedure to assist with diagnosis and traditional options.

Health Maintenance Back to Top

Women who do not see their primary care physician on an annual basis often use their ob/gyn physician as a source of health maintenance.

Weight loss programs - Annual exams include height and weight with body mass index calculation providing the physician with information as to whether or not the patient should be on a weight loss program.
Cholesterol screenings - Women over 40 are also screened annually for cholesterol. These screenings enable the physician to determine if the patient needs dietary instruction or medication.
Mammograms - A baseline mammogram is recommended at age 40 by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Mammogram screenings are the most comprehensive way to detect breast cancer at an early stage.
Bone Mass Densitometry - After the age of 50 bone mass is an indicator of osteoporosis.  A bone scan every two years allows the physician to determine the need to treat or continue to monitor a patient's current therapy.

Our nationally accredited ultrasound lab is one of the many ways the Pinehurst Surgical Women's Care Center demonstrates their commitment to convenient, comprehensive and compassionate women's health care. The overall purpose of the accreditation program is to ensure that all ultrasound examinations are performed by medical professionals formally trained in ultrasonography according to the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards.  All our physicians and sonographers meet strict requirements including formal training and annual continuing medical education in ultrasonography. All of our sonographers are certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

GYN Oncology Back to Top

The annual pap smear results provide early detection of precancerous cells.  When a pap smear is abnormal there are a number of tests that could be performed to determine if the cells are cancerous or benign.
